Machiko Moss

A kitsune* gunslinger* bolt ace** whose alignment is neutral good. She is the only child of her mother, Miyuki Tasuka, and the last living member of the Tasuka line. She takes her surname from her father, Ryota Moss, who disappeared from her life when she was 9 or 10 years old and dedicated himself fulltime to the Royal Army of Lintorac*. For some years, she and her mother searched for Ryota but were given the runaround by military and government officials, who could find no record of Ryota and Miyuki’s marriage, or of Machiko’s birth, and thus would not provide any information on his whereabouts.

About 13 years ago, in the midst of their search, Machiko and her mother ‘hired’ Avicius Voide. Machiko was around 12 years old at the time. Over the years, she took a liking to the adventuring lifestyle and has stayed on as Voide’s traveling companion ever since.

Moss can come across as naive, and in some areas lacks significant real-world experience. She is, however, an excellent shot with her crossbow, a competent healer, and a quick shapeshifter. She prefers to avoid combat when possible, but has no qualms with killing bandits or monsters who attack her or any of her companions.

Just like her mother and her mother’s mother before her, Machiko is one hell of a baker. She has taken things a step further and branched out beyond traditional kitsune fare. Every new country or region she travels to yields her some new recipe or variation, and she has dreams of settling down somewhere with a bakery of her own, absolutely bursting with rare, unusual, and exotic baked goods from all over the globe.

In this story, kitsune can choose partial transformation (because, whatever, I wanted to draw a cute fox girl). At the time of this story, Moss is ~25 years old, and in this universe kitsune live to be about 100 years old.
